Multiple drill through paths between same two sources in Power BI
- 6 years ago
Hi Anonymous ,
Hence I am getting a feeling that drill through between the same two sources at multiple levels is not possible unless you put the summary data in a third sheet? Is that correct? Pls confirm if I am incorrect and there is a way?
In your scenario, that's true.
Assuming Service and Sub service is a common dimension it should happen.
Not sure of the exact issue. Can you please explain with an example.
Appreciate your Kudos.

Hi Amitchandak
Thanks for your reply.
File 1: IT Financials has summary data in Excel format
with lots of columns
1. Portfolio
2. Cost Driver
3. Cost Driver Detail
4. Busines Area
5. Services
6. Sub Service
I have created a key, which joins all the above columns
The same columns exist in the detail Sheet called "Power BI Mockup".
A similar key consisting of the above columns exist in the detailed sheet.
Join has been created between the two key columns and drill through has been created at Sub Service Level currently.
Now the customer is saying that we also want to drill through at Service level.
I tried creating another join between the same two sources using the folowing columns
1. Portfolio
2. Cost Driver
3. Cost Driver Detail
4. Busines Area
5. Services
But Power BI wont allow me to create a join at Multiple levels within the same two sources.
Hence I am getting a feeling that drill through between the same two sources at multiple levels is not possible unless you put the summary data in a third sheet? Is that correct? Pls confirm if I am incorrect and there is a way?
