Multiple drill through measures

Hi ,

I have a matrix with 18 measures on and I'm wondering what the best and most efficient way would be to enable a drillthrough possible on the whole matrix.

Would it have to be to create the drillthrough and drag all 18 fields into the drillthrough box on the destination page?

Also, could all of this be done on a singular drill through page?

Thanks

Liam

  • Hi lherbert501 ,

    Thank you for the response..!!

    It is possible to drillthrough.

    Hi lherbert501 ,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community.

Thank you PijushRoy superuser for the prompt response.

    • Yes, you can create a single drillthrough page to handle all 18 measures. This page will serve as the destination for the drillthrough action.
    • On the drillthrough page, you will need to drag all 18 fields (measures) into the drillthrough filters section. This will enable the drillthrough functionality for each of these measures.
    • Ensure that the drillthrough page is properly configured to display the relevant data when a user drills through from the matrix. This might involve setting up visuals and filters that respond to the context provided by the drillthrough action.

      Hi v-venuppu

If on my destination page I have just generic info that applies to all 18 measures, and the measure doesn't need to exist on the destination tablix, is there a way to do this?

In my testing the drillthrough works fine when a measure exists in the tablix, but I didn't know if it was possible to just drill through and at page level.

E.G If i had a phonecall count sales measure and a social media count sales measure and this was going through to a generic sales tablix, can this just show the sales on the tablix that exist in the context of a social media sale? E.G 8 social media sales so the tablix has 8 rows with generic sales info?

      Thanks

        Hi lherbert501 ,

Yes, what you are describing can be achieved, and it's a common pattern when you want to use contextual drillthrough without showing the measure itself on the destination page.

Here's some steps to achieve it:

        • You do not need to place the actual measure in the destination tablix for the drillthrough to work. Instead, what matters is the context passed through the drillthrough filter.
        • The key is to use categorical fields (dimensions) or filter-friendly fields that are associated with those measures (e.g., Channel, Sale Type, etc.).
        • The context (via dimensions like SalesChannel) enables the page-level filters and makes the visual respond correctly.
        • This allows you to create a generic destination page that dynamically adapts based on the selected measure’s context.

Here's an example for your reference:

        • If you have a SalesChannel field with values like "Phone Call" or "Social Media", and your matrix uses that to split measures, you can drag SalesChannel into the drillthrough filter pane on the destination page.
        • When users drill from "Social Media Sales", the page filters to just "Social Media" sales, and the tablix shows all 8 relevant rows.

      Hi v-venuppu

Thankyou so much for your time on this.

I'm going to presume its not possible, as it would have to look similar to the image below

      Thanks
