Multiple Additions in CALCULATE(SUM) function

Hi There,

I need a suggestion to write the DAX formula to do multiple additions and subtractions with where like clause. My psuedo code is like below.

investment costs =  CALCULATE(SUM(tab_a(amount), where tab_a(account) = "TCXPS"  +

                                                    SUM(tab_a(amount), where tab_a(account) = "YGCDS"  +

                                                     SUM(tab_a(amount), where tab_a(account) = "INVCC"  -

                                                     SUM(tab_a(amount), where tab_a(account) = "TAXPC" ) WHERE CYCLE = CURRENT & MONTH = 2)

Ho do we acheive this kind of calculation in BI Dax. Sorry could not provide the sample file. Any ideas please?

Regards

Prasad

  • Anonymous you can always do this in one measure but I like to break these out, so try following measures:

    Measure Base =
    CALCULATE (
    SUM ( Tab_A[Amount] ),
    Tab_a[CYCLE] = "CURRENT",
    Tab_a[Month] = 2
    )

    investment costs =
    CALCULATE( [Measure Base], tab_a(account) = "TCXPS") +
    CALCULATE( [Measure Base], tab_a(account) = "YGCDS") +
    CALCULATE( [Measure Base], tab_a(account) = "INVCC") -
    CALCULATE( [Measure Base], tab_a(account) = "TAXPC")

      Thanks Parry!

  • Hi,

    Does this measure work?

    =calculate(SUM(tab_a(amount),(tab_a(account) = "TCXPS"||tab_a(account) = "YGCDS"||tab_a(account) = "INVCC"),tab_a(cycle) = "Current",tab_a(month) = 2)-calculate(SUM(tab_a(amount),tab_a(account) = "TAXPC",tab_a(cycle) = "Current",tab_a(month) = 2)
