Multilingual Reports with Power BI Pro capacity

Hi guys,

I´m looking for a beautiful solution to implement a multilingual report for a Power BI Pro Licence.

I found following options already:

A) Translating via Tabular Editor, which only works for Premium capacity

B) Translating with an Excel File ( I don´t want to translate the data, but columns and measures.

C) With bookmarks, which wouldn´t be a very nice solution.

D) Azure Cognitive Services (never worked with it?!)

I don´t need users to be able to set the language, but I just don´t want to copy the data model and edit it in another language every time 😞

If someone came across this problem and found another suitable solution for this, I would be happy for any recommendation.

Best regards!

    Hi, MarieVolpert

I'm not sure what you meam by 'Translating via Tabular Editor, which only works for Premium capacity'.

If you just want to translate local reports, you don't need Premium capacity at all.

You may need to use premium capacity only if you need to use the XMLA endpoint to connect to the service dataset in real time.

  • Hi the video from thebipower.fr helped a lot.

I have one report, for wich I am translating metadata.

I translated my originally German Desktop Dataset in English, changed my language settings and uploaded it to the service, where it was finally shown in English. Perfect right?

But because I need multilingual reports, I changed my language setting to another language (e.g. Dutch) in my Desktop, the Service and in Tabular Editor. Uploaded it again. But now the report was still in English.

So: the first translation that I made can´t be reversed.

I have read in many articles that Tabular Editor translations only work perfectly for Power BI Premium.
