Moving reports from one domain to another. (Sql Server Analysis Services Database)

Hello

We are moving to a new domain and i have moved our datasetts by downloading uploading the pbix files.

When doing the same for reports using those datasets i get a message that they fail to access their dataset.

I presume they are pointing to the old domain. How can i modify them to point to the new datasets?

If i open the report in desktop app in the old domain i dont see any way to modify the source for the report. In the new domain it fails to open.

I found a lead to the solution on another page but post it here in case someone else is searching later.

To move a report (that uses another datasett) to a new domain:

  1. move the datasett by downloading pbx and then open it in PowerBI desktop (on new domain) and Publish it.
  2. Open the report in power bi desktop (in old domain).
    1. Log in your Power BI desktop to the new domain.
    2. Chose the "new" datasett trough (transform data/data source settings)
    3. Save and publish in your new domain.

@lorentzteigen , Unde transform data, Edit data source setting, you should have the option

Or open power query, right click on each table open advance editor and check the settings

Check if needed

Thanks for the quick answer and sorry for a bit poor explanation.

Under transform data i only get the option to chose resources in my domain.  No option to target others (as far as i see)

Power Query and advance editor is not available in the report connected to another dataset only in the dataset itself.

If i try to open the report in Power BI desktop while in new domain it fails, refering to missing connection to dataset.

So my problem is that i need to target a report to a new datasett (or rather the same one in a new domain). But how to do that when report will not open in the new domain?

I think the youtube video covered well how to change data in a datasett, but nothing abouth how to change the datasett or location of the datasett.
