Moving a locally created report to OneDrive or SharePoint

Hello,

I am a new PBI user. I created a report and a dashboard that uses three excel files stored locally on my laptop. I update the excel files freqently with newer data and then refresh the report.

Now, I need to move these files to an online platform like OneDrive or a SharePoint folder, so that other team members can also update the excel files without my intervention. Goes without saying that I don't intend to recreate the report or the dashboard.

What's the best way to achieve this?
Would SharePoint be a better option as OneDrive is attached to ids and can run into issues if someone leaves the organisation?

Thanks

I moved the files to SharePoint and then changed the source of the files using the Data Source Settings window.

So, a slightly different way than yours but had the same result.

And yes, I too find SP better mostly because it's ID agnostic.

Hi @Enigma ,

In my opinion, I prefer SharePoint because you can change the file source easily in Query Editor and need not to recreate reports and visuals.

Local files visual:local excel.png,

and the file source is local in advanced editors:

local excel2.png

When I moved file to SharePoint and change the files data:

sharepoint excel.png,

then I replaced the file source from local into SharePoint link:

sharepoint excel2.png

Close and Apply Query Editors and the report will also change automatically:
