Month name to month number

I have a file with 2 columns - Month & Year.  The month column contains the month name only (Oct).

I would like to convert the month name to the month number but have not found any way to do this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

@dadelta50,

Use an IF ELSE or SWITCH Statement. Example shown below

MonthNo = SWITCH('Year - Month'[Month],
        "Jan", 1,
        "Feb",2,
        "Mar",3,
        "Apr",4,
        "May",5,
        "Jun",6,
        "Jul",7,
        "Aug",8,
        "Sep",9,
        "Oct",10,
        "Nov",11,
        "Dec",12
                )

'Year - Month'[Month] has the Month Names in it

Hi,

if you have a date format column like '01/01/2023' then maybe try

Month number = FORMAT('Calendar Table'[Reporting Month], "m")

@dadelta50,

Use an IF ELSE or SWITCH Statement. Example shown below

MonthNo = SWITCH('Year - Month'[Month],
        "Jan", 1,
        "Feb",2,
        "Mar",3,
        "Apr",4,
        "May",5,
        "Jun",6,
        "Jul",7,
        "Aug",8,
        "Sep",9,
        "Oct",10,
        "Nov",11,
        "Dec",12
                )
