Month by Month Column in matrix
I am trying to get a netfee by month for each studio into a Matrix for a Sales Pipeline Report. Basically trying to recreate this excel file.
But I am pretty new to powerBI and can't get the matrix to read the dates correctly and this is what I come up with.
I have the date column in my data to read as a short date as of now. I know how in depth calendar functions can get. Any ideas what I am missing to be able to read the data and group/sum it by month per studio?

Hi bscholler create Date table, mark it as date table, create relationship to your fact table, create measure as you need and then from Date table choose month to slice your data
Adjust part Sales[Order Date] to your table and column name. Hope this help.

I was able to create a Date Table. And connected any date fields in my data to the Date Field in my DateTable. I am just unsure what measures would be used or what even to do after that.

Hi bscholler what is shown in your Excel overview I could not find in your picture as some column 🙂 Basically, you should find column in your model and create simple measure for start, like SUM(<Your table>[Column name]) , I guess pipline something. The figures with # I have no idea what is meaning of it. Be carefull, about granularity of your data as it could be already summarize or it is detailed or it is some snapshop.
