Minor UI naming issue in "View" tab for showing visual gridlines

Hi Power BI Community/MSFT Team,

I just got my Power BI Desktop updated to the newest release version, and I'm not sure if I've got to only face this on my version - but there is this minor UI issue in the "View" tab that caught my attention. If I'm not mistaken, this is before what is used to be called "Show Gridlines" - and now it its called "Visual_Gridline_Show". It could be there is a feature toggle or naming update that needs to be done on the UI side of the latest release of Power BI Desktop.

Hi @cvr,
Thank you for this follow-up question.

I completely understand how this naming inconsistency could cause confusion, especially for new Power BI users.

I have passed your feedback along to the internal team, so they are aware of it. Updates like these are typically addressed in upcoming Power BI Desktop releases once the UI strings are finalized. I’d recommend keeping an eye on the Power BI Desktop monthly release notes any such fixes or naming updates will be listed there once available.

Appreciate you taking the time to report this. Your attention to detail really helps improve the product experience for everyone.

Thank you.

Hi @cvr,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum. Also, thanks to @danextian, for his inputs on this thread.

I understand what you are noticing in the latest Power BI Desktop release, the option that used to be called “Show Gridlines” now appears as “Visual_Gridline_Show”. This seems to be a minor UI naming update and shouldn’t affect the functionality of toggling gridlines on your report canvas.

To check or toggle gridlines: Go to the View tab in Power BI Desktop. Look for the Visual_Gridline_Show option and check/uncheck it as needed. Optionally, enable Snap objects to grid if you want visuals to align more easily.

Refer this link: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/desktop-gridlines-snap-to-grid?tabs=powerb...

If the UI label is still confusing, this could be a display naming issue that may be updated in future releases. In the meantime, rest assured that the functionality works the same as before.

Hope this clears it up. Let me know if you face any further inconsistencies we will be happy to help.

Thank you for using the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

Thank you clarifying the issue @v-kpoloju-msft . I hope this would be updated and fixed on the upcoming Power BI Desktop release (or if possible in the current version) as this could potentially cause confusion to Power BI newcomers when they interact with the "Visual_Gridline_Show" feature.
