Microsoft SQL: The target principal name is incorrect. Cannot generate SSPI context.
I have a .pbix file where I have a table
that connects to a SQL Server database - the IP was changed yesterday
, and since then it couldnt refresh in the Power Bi Service.
In the .pbix file in Power BI desktop, the table doesnt connects to the data.
I changed the server to the new IP but it has this messege:
"Microsoft SQL: The target principal name is incorrect. Cannot generate SSPI context."
I dont understand why - because the windows credentials are the same.
Hi hadase
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Forum Community.
VijayP Thanks for the inputs. In addition please try below points. Try using the SQL Server’s hostname instead of its IP address, or turn on Trust Server Certificate, this usually restores the connection and resolves the SSPI error.
If I misunderstand your needs or you still have problems on it, please feel free to let us know.
Thanks.
