Merge 2 column in Direct Query

Hi Experts

Please let me know how can i merge two columns in Power BI using direct query mode.

If i try to merge, it gives an error msg:

This query is not supported in existing  connection mode. It gives an option to change connection mode.

I have already followed the following link. But it does not allow me to do so.

Thanks.

Hi

What kind of data source do you use?

Do you use DAX  or Power query to merge columns?

Which function do you use, could you please show us your formula?

I test using the DAX as the link refered (Product_ID = tbl1[product_key]&" "&tbl2[product_version])

in DirectQuery mode in the lastest version ( 2.57.5068.721 64-bit (April 2018)), everything works well

Additionally, you may try this formula to see if it helps.

MergeColumn =
CONCATENATE ( test[item], test[State] )
Merge =
CONCATENATE ( test[item], CONCATENATE ( ",", test[State] ) )

Best Regards

Maggie
