Measure to work out Averages but also filter results

Hi I hope you can help

I have created a bar chart which shows the average reading age of children

I've been able to create a simple measure for this as below

Accuracy Start = AVERAGE(YARC[Accuracy  Total Start Months])

I now want further measures to show this average for just girls/ boys

Normally I would just put in a slicer or put in a seperate chart with a filter but this visualisation needs for it to all be in one chart so I'll need new meaures which work out an average and then filter this down
I Have a measure which can filter but don't know how to do both in a single measure

CALCULATE(
    COUNTA('Extract - Student Details v1 03'[GENDER]),
    'Extract - Student Details v1 03'[GENDER] IN { "F" }

@BCWdesign could you please provide more information like what you mean by hierarchy? Can you share screenshots to give some context otherwise I will be shooting in the dark.

@BCWdesign you can use the gender column on the legend and that will do it.
