May 26 release - causing issues with refresh in desktop?

Anybody else having issues since updating to May-26 (App was automatically updated via the store)?

Several models will no longer complete a refresh in desktop. It just sits there forever on the refresh screen after having fetched the rows.

Clicking cancel does nothing and you have to kill the app in task manager.

Asked a colleague to try on a different PC and they are also seeing the same issue.

  • Hi DarrenCooper ,

This issue is seeing after the May‑26 update of Power BI Desktop, refresh hangs indefinitely after fetching rows, and Cancel doesn’t respond.

    You can try this

    • Refreshing in Power BI Service (works fine there).

    • Rolling back to the April 2026 Desktop build restores normal refresh.

    Hope this helps!

    Thank You!
