Matrix visual drill icons are different from other matrix visuals

I have multiple PBI reports. My older reports with matrix visuals show the drill and next level icons outside of the visual and all on the right hand side above the visual border. My newer matrix visuals in other reports, show drill and next level icons inside the border and on the left and right hand side. It seems like my older reports are not using the new matrix visual. How can I update my older reports to use the new visuals?

The Visual Header was changed in July 2018 and for new reports it’s on by default.

For existing reports however you need to enable it.

In PBI Desktop - File - Options and Settings - Options - Report Settings - Use Modern Visual Header with...

The reason they didn’t automatically do this for older reports is that switching to the new visual headers shifts your visuals and you will need to spend some time rearranging them to match your original layout.

Hi @johnchill,

There is no direct way to automatically update the old Matrix visual to the new one. You may need to recreate these matrix in old reports.
