@ashmitp869 ,

In Power BI, the native Matrix visual does not support merging cells.

Workarounds:

  1. You can use conditional formatting to change the background color of rows or columns to visually group them, giving the illusion of merged cells.
  2. Consider overlaying text boxes or shapes on top of the Matrix visual to create the appearance of merged cells.

If this helped, a Kudos 👍 or Solution mark would be great!

But in this case, if I want to export to excel - it won't work.

As I request is also to export to excel.

Hi @ashmitp869

There is no free text on Power BI Matrix. You can either create a card and format it so it fits with the matrix border and is above the matrix table or if you know what rows in your table belong to the Current Budget and Previously Claimed, you could create a custom column in the table and Add the Value "Current Budget" or "Previously Claimed". You would then add this new column first in the Column field.

Hope this helps
