Matrix conditional formatting - what is it comparing?
Hello,
I'm hoping there is a simple answer to this that I've missed... I have applied conditional formatting to the below matrix, but the colours aren't quite what I would expect. e.g. why is 11.60% in the Region D column apparently darker than 20.43% in the Region A column? Is Power BI comparing numbers across the whole matrix, per row or per column, or something else?
I'm sure I am missing something obvious!

The conditional format is generated based on the Field you selected, and judging from your image, you are basing it on the field [NumberOfContacts].
Here is a simple example:
If I choose to format it based on sum of the value:
Output:
If I choose the measure:
Output:

Ah... I wonder if it's because it's basing the colours on the underlying raw figures? Region D is much more populous than the others. In the matrix, the measure is simply a count of individuals, but I'm displaying it as percentage of column total. I haven't been able to create a measure which does that, which is a whole other story (I've started another thread today about that!).

Thank you for your reply, v-jianboli-msft . You are right - but I suppose my problem is I haven't been able to create the measure I need. If you look at my other post on this thread you will see what I mean! Any advice on that one appreciated:-)
