Below is an image of some madeup data. It is presented ina Matrix with the values (or ratings) highlighted by a background colour.
I wish to present the cells without the numbers present.
So the simple question is how do I do this?

Use font color scale for the measure the same way you did the background color scale, once you do that, font color and background color will be same and you will not see the number but only heat color (background color)

You can right click on the column in the Fields section and select 'Show items with no data'.

Yep. That work. Don't know why I didn't look to do that... probably because the "advanced controls" do not appear until you turn on font colours.
