Matrix average vs total and abbreviated month names

New to PowerBI and looking to see if my matrix by month can have an avg added to the end vs. the default total - see image of what I'm trying to achieve.

Also, is there a way in the matrix to abbreviate the month names to just 3 characters vs the full names?

Thanks in advance.

@CDSoundzDJ for 2nd question, you need to add a column in your table that has 3 letter month name and use that in the matrix visual (on columns) there is no automatic way to do this, regarding your 1st question, try this measure:

Sales = SUM ( Table[Sales] )

Matrix Measure =
IF ( HASONEVALUE ( Table[Month] ), [Sales], AVERAGEX ( VALUES ( Table[Month] ), [Sales] ) )

Assuming currently you are using sum sales measure (1st one in the above code), add another measure (2nd one in above code) and then use the 2nd measure in the values in the matrix visual and that will do it.

@CDSoundzDJ you should turn the total for columns in the formatting pane and that's where you will see average

Tried the calculation to shorten the month name.  Works in the visual, but you then loose the ability to drill up from month to quarter to year.

With a fresh mind I tried your solution again today using the extra instructions provided and it looks like I'm all set.  I did have to modify my query some to help with the date grouping so the monthly columns were not averages within the month.

I need to tackle the month abbreviation in the matrix next.

I tried your solution but instead of adding a column at the far right with the average of the monthly values it simply replaced all the values in the matrix with what appears to be the same values I already had.
