    Hi Vicky, thanks for responding.  The solution mentioned appears to require the user to expand the individual rows.  This is not practical when there may be hundreds of rows in the visual.  Let me know if I am missing something.

There's a matrix setting under Row Headers > Options > Stepped Layout that you can turn off to achieve that.
