Matrix Hierarchy how to get rid of blanks

On the left I have a table with the correct values (no double counting) but many extra spaces; on the right, I have a table with no spaces but the values are not summing correctly.

 

The way I got the table on the right to not have spaces is by creating a PATH but in order to not have my values double count I only kept the lowest level of a hierachy so therefore I can't use the PATH.

 

Please help!!

There's a custom matrix visual that supports ragged hierarchies, but it is really slow.

 

Please provide sanitized sample data that fully covers your issue.
