Mark specific dates on a chart
Hi Maria9292
So what values are you actually trying to highlight on the chart? From your images it appeared you wanted to highlight points on the 2 lines?
If you are wanting to use values from the measure won't you just get a line/points that increase in value because it's a Running Total?
Regards
Phil
PhilipTreacy the column contains positive and negative values, so even if de jure it's running total, de facto the line shouldn't increase.

HI Maria9292
I'm still not clear on the actual values you want highlighted. What does the data column of Positive or negative numbers actually look like? The values? Please provide an example.
Is it just 1 or -1? You supplied an mage of a Fact table with a Change column but it wasn't clear if that's what you are trying to plot. Even if it was, which values do you want highlighted?

I'll give a bit of a context. It's an HR dashboard, and this chart shows employees coming up and down thier career ladders.
In the Fact table there is a change column populated with values of 1,0,-1, and null, where:
1 is a promotion
-1 is a demotion
0 is an "expansion" of the responsibilities on the same position
null - no changes in position:
Running total measure allows to see at what point on a timeline the change happens:
The measure:
Running Total =CALCULATE(SUM('Fact_Table'[Change]),FILTER(ALLSELECTED(Date_Table[Date]),ISONORAFTER(Date_Table[Date], MAX(Date_Table[Date]), DESC)))ā
I need to indicate changes in positions on the very line. Logic, as I see it, might be: if the date of the change in the Fact table equals a date in the Date Table then take a value from the Running total measure. But I can't manage to figure out DAX here.
What I've done so far is I created another line on a chart (Dax: if there is a change then 0) and changed markers to triangles to indicate changes, but I need them to be on the line and not below it , like this:
Because even though it's obvious when there are promotions and demotions, there are also 0-s that need to be indicated.
That's the data model:
P.s. Thank you for trying to help me))

Hi Maria9292 ,
According to my understanding, you want to show some markers on the polyline instead of all, but the current version cannot realize this idea. Please submit your idea.
