MariaDB Data Source Error 'Unknown System Variable'

I am trying to connect to a mariadb on a remote server (same LAN), using power bi desktop.

When I select the datasource connector MariaDB I am entering the MariaDB data source in the format servername:port. The the database name below.

On the next screen I enter the user name and password, I know these credentials are correct as I have verified using HeidiSQL and MySql Workbench and can connect successfully from the same device.

I am able to setup a replica MariaDB on my device (localhost), import the remote db, and connect to localhost successfully using the same method.

I am also able to connect to the remote database via MySqlWorkbench etc. So the connection from my device is successful.

So it appears the issue is only with connecting to the remote db via power bi?

The error message I am receiving is below; See images.

Any ideas?

hi @v-chenwuz-msft Yes I have installed the MariaDB ODBC Connector

I was unable to connect to my localhost database until I installed this, so I know it's installed correctly.

It appears the issue is with connecting to the remote database only. I am able to connect to the remote database via MySQLWorkbench etc. So I know the connection from my device works also.
