Maps cannot be rendered in desktop but are fine when published in my online workspace

Hi,

I have some visuals I created a while ago in PBI desktop and the maps were working fine originally and the maps were visible.

I've been trying to create new visuals with maps again and no matter what I do nothing will show in the map whilst working on the desktop.

Anyway, I opened the old file where I knew the maps were originally visible and now they are gone! the visual is there but I cannot see anything in the map.

However, the weird thing is I can see the original map visible in my online workspace when published.

In addition, not sure whether this other issue is linked but I cannot see visual thumbnail images when trying to import a customer visual from within the desktop app.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Hi @ninky1982,

Which type of map visual did you use? Please try a different map visual with same data to see whether it can show data correctly. Besides, update your desktop to the latest version for a test. Based on my research, someone encountered the same problem and it turned out a firewall/proxy issue. Can you try to open  the same pbix file under another network?

Hi,

I've tried all different maps including arcGIS versions.  I get the same issue and cannot see any map data.

I agree it could be a firewall issue but I'm not the administrator so I can't change this but will see if my helpdesk can.

Thanks,

Nikki
