This is a classic Power BI mapping issue caused by ambiguous place names, especially when working with UK counties that share names with US counties or cities.
If your dataset only has "County", add a new column like:
Full Location = [County Name] & ", United Kingdom"
Use this new Full Location column in your Map visual’s Location field.
And in the column tools, if you set this as Place, it will work the best.If this solved your issue, please mark it as the accepted solution. ✅
no it did not solve the problem but if you change the data category to "state or Province" (in this case my list of counties) it works.
