Map shows wrong location and only in bubble form

Dear all,

I got a problem when I try to use the map visual in power bi. In my case, the geo info I have is the Japanese province name only. Like:

I tried different map provided in power bi but either the map shows wrong location or the data is shown in bubble form. I prefer the map shows the filled region instead of bubble.

I prefer the display format in the second visual but obviously the map plots the location wrong.

Does anyone have some suggestions?

Thanks!

    Hi Anonymous,

From your description, it seems some data points render in wrong locations in the filled map visual, right?

If it is, please share the sample data you plotted in the filled map, point out which province located wrongly. Also please try to update the Power BI desktop to the latest version to see if the issue persists.

    Best Regards,
    Qiuyun Yu

      Hi Qiuyun,

From the screen shot you can find that in Hokkaido (on the top of Japan) the chart also plots the area out of the land, which is not useful at all for sales data. So it is kind of wrong.

    Hi Anonymous,

Please see below information I have got:

Can you ask the customer to provide the full list of Japanese province names?

Base on what I’ve seen in the forum, looks like we don’t plots the wrong location. It’s just the boundaries of the provinces we plot are not accurate. This is a known data issue on our side and we are addressing this issue.

    Best Regards,
    Qiuyun Yu
