Map Radii in Miles

Hi

I want to create a map with dots for physical locations that have radii in the miles that location covers. So for a location in Manchester that covers 5 miles the radius of that dot should be 5 miles, while if Liverpool covers 10 miles, that dot's radius should be 10 miles.

I can create a map of dots with varying radii (5 for Manchester, 10 for Liverpool), but those are in pixels. When you zoom in, the dots scale, which I don't want to happen as they should be a fixed distance. How do I get them to be in miles?

I am using PowerBI desktop. I have tried ArcGIS but it doesn't seem to offer anything at all above the standard map. There is no 'distance' option as suggested in forums online. All other help online seems to be about creating one circle around one location. I have a couple of hundred locations.

Thank you

Hi @GE1,

I'm not aware of a Power BI map visual that can create distance radii (or isochrones) for several hundred point locations in a bulk process. However, you can use one of the Power BI map visuals to create those distance isochrones for each point location individually (screen shot below). Another option is you can use a geospatial app to create the distance radii in bulk and then import them into your map visual in Power BI. In both options the Territory Visual by EasyTerritory would be worth checking out:

I hope this helps,

I don't have permission to access that resource, apparently.

is your company blocking the link?

I can click the link and login, but it tells me although I logged in, I don't have permission. Presumably an admin setting somewhere...
