Make column description visible to end user

Hi,

I am developing a report in power BI . In the fields list, i can see all the field names and for each field name i can add the description .

My question is how can we display this field description to end user as the end uer won't be having access to field lists.

Currently , when i hover my mouse over the field name , i can get the description . But the same is not applicable in the visuals or the filters.

Nope, this feature seems not support this effect. Perhaps you can submit an idea about control visible property.

Perhaps, is their any API supported, from which we can get the list of report fields in a power BI report ?

HI @james363112,

If you mean power bi desktop side, they weren't included any API for getting data model fields list. maybe you can try to use third-party tools to link to the data model for further operations.

Hi,

Basically what i was looking for is : if we can get report field info from a power bi file , without opening the file in power bi desktop . It's okay if we can get the report field info of a report hosted in power bi service as well (via some API or program)
