Make Power Bi Desktop prompt for proxy credentials every time

Our organization just implemented new policies where our proxy credentials cannot be cached and must be asked for everytime by applications.

 

Our Power Bi Desktop immediatly started having problems IE Map(Bing) visual not working.

 

We use report server so the latest version we could upgrade to is September 2021 and it does not work.

 

I tested October 2021 and it works fine. As soon as I load it, it asks for the proxy credentials and everything works fine.

 

Is there a way to make September 2021 ask for proxy credentials everytime?

    JSher , Power BI desktop optimized for the report is usually 3 months behind and released 3 times in a year. So you might have to wait if that is what you need.

      We are not using the optimized for report server version as it does not have ArcGIS, we use the standard desktop version

    Hi JSher ,

    I still have some doubt. "We use report server so the latest version we could upgrade to is September 2021 and it does not work." Map visual in September report server can not be displayed, or can be displayed but not every time asked to provide proxy credentials.

     

    I have tested it on my local environment, we can use map visual without any issue. My desktop version:2.99.862.0 64-bit (November 2021)

    First thing is to check whether you can access and use Bing map in IE.

    In your scenario, could you please try to updated your Power BI desktop to latest version and check if this issue persists or not. If the issue persists, please share your PBIX file, so that we can make further analysis.

     

     

    In addition, I have found a similar post, please refer to the following document to see if it helps.

    • it turned out a firewall/proxy issue. Try to open the same pbix file in another network, say in your own PC home
    • This turned out to be a problem with proxy.  Add *.bing.com to the allow list to resolve.
