MailChimp Connection Credentials

Hello,

I have been working with the MailChimp connector for about a month. Last week, right at the 30 day mark since I first started using the connector, I received a message that the refresh of data failed. Upon further research I found that the app says my credentials are invalid. I attempted to reauthorize (thinking the credentials might need to be refreshed on a 30 day interval). It failed. I went to MailChimp's website to make sure my credentials work and they do.

When I manually run a refresh, it shows as though the data has been updated but also seems like Power BI doesn't like the credentials. Has something changed with the authorization for the connector? Any reason the credentials could work on the website but not work on the connector?

I've attached some screenshots to show what I am seeing in the process.

    Hi wcameron14 ,

Similar issue was reported by others on Power BI Issues forum here. And the issue appeared to be a problem on MailChimp End. So I would suggest you contact [email protected] for better assistance on this issue.

  • Hi wcameron14 Since the Mailchimp service pack was deprecated, you would have to look for another way. As a workaround, maybe you can use a 3rd party connector, it can save you a lot of time compared to other options. I've tried windsor.ai, supermetrics and funnel.io. I stayed with windsor because it is much cheaper so just to let you know other options. In case you wonder, to make the connection first search for the Mailchimp connector in the data sources list:

After that, you will have to first create a secret API key in your Mailchimp account and then using your credentials add your account to the platform.

Once you’ve done this, you can proceed and go to the “Preview and destination” step

There just select the fields you need. Finally, just select PBI as your data destination and finally just copy and paste the url on PBI --> Get Data --> Web --> Paste the url.
