Hi, am wondering if it is possible to program a button (similar to a Macro function in Excel) to operate as a Reset / Unfilter / Refresh Button in a finalized Report view, so people do not get confused how to go back once having filtered on specific data inside a graph?
Thanks.
Hi @t-atgeor. You won't be able to program a button to do this. There's no macro writing or equivalent in Power BI.
However, if you're worried about people getting lost in the data and wanting to unfilter everything or start from scratch, you could put in a standard text box with a message to refresh the page. Just be careful that they understand they aren't refreshing the data and are simply restarting the report. Something like "F5 to Restart Report"
If it's in PowerBI.com, I think that will refresh the page and start them from the beginning as if they had just clicked the report. Sorry I don't have a dashboard handy at the moment to test.
Hi @KGrice, thanks for the response. Is it something which might be implemented in PowerBI for the future? Might be extremely useful for those with zero knowledge on the platform, getting fast acquainted and making it easy to understand.
Wish you a good day.
Atanas
@t-atgeor You should check out the community ideas for things that might be implemented in future releases of Power BI. That's where people submit ideas like yours, the community votes for ideas they like, and the Power BI team uses that to help gauge what features are in high demand or would be most useful.
I found an idea already started where somebody wants the same reset feature. It doesn't have a lot of votes yet, but you could add yours and check out other ideas while you're at it!
