I am guessing lot of people on these forums get MS for free at school/work
If a Home/Individual user wishes to create Data Visualizations using
- Power Query (now called Get and Transform)
- Power Maps (also called 3-D Maps)
- Power View
What software do they buy? Would simple MS Excel 2016 out of the box do? Or is there other things to purchase.
Kindly provide breakdown of what "Power" component requires what software, and whether it is free or how much it costs.
Thank you

AFAIK, those listed options are all excel features. You can somewhat implement all of those 3 in Power BI Desktop. Power BI Desktop is all free.
Lets say someone is new to Data Visualization and isn't quite ready for PowerBI (I usually use Excel and Power View, I still find PowerBi a bit intimidating), then what is the cost breakdown?
