MCQ on PL 300
Hi saud968, thank you for response, I didn't understand 100% what you explained. Although your response gave me a bit of knowledge, I did a bit of research from myself based on basket analysis. Surrogate keys are necessary basket analysis. I understood the answer.
My anslysis :-
1. Columns like OrderID, ProductID, and Quantity are crucial for understanding which products are frequently purchased together.
2. Columns such as CustomerID, OrderDate, and OrderTime can help identify customer behavior and trends.
3. Columns like SalesAmount, Revenue, and Profit are essential for measuring the financial impact of product combinations.Statement 1: The SalesRowID and AuditID columns can be removed from the model without impeding the analysis goals.
- Explanation: Yes. These columns are primarily used for tracking changes and auditing purposes within the source system. They are not directly relevant to the basket analysis, which focuses on identifying product relationships based on sales data.
Statement 2: Both the OrderDateKey and OrderDate columns are necessary to perform the basket analysis.
- Explanation: No. While the OrderDate column provides a human-readable format, the OrderDateKey is a surrogate key that can be used more efficiently in calculations and joins. For most analysis purposes, the OrderDateKey is sufficient. However, if you need to display the date in a human-readable format, you can use the OrderDate column.
Statement 3: The TaxAmt column must retain the current number of decimal places to perform the basket analysis.
- Explanation: No. The level of precision required for the TaxAmt column depends on the specific business requirements and the desired level of accuracy in the basket analysis. If the analysis does not require extreme precision, you can consider reducing the number of decimal places to improve query performance and storage efficiency.
