M365 login screen flashes and disappears

I'm having an issue when connecting via a Microsoft account to a data source in the Desktop client.  After I click the 'Sign in' button, the M365 credentials window flashes and disappears very briefly, preventing me from actually signing in.  How can I resolve this?

@mr_wizard , try this setting

Go to File-> Options and settings -> Options -> Security Option -> and check : Use My Default browser( Visible after scroll)

if needed, clear the cache of the default browser and Try again
