Look up a binning column to provide the average

Hello everyone,

I would like to look up a group of values and get the average %Hch from which group this data falls in.

So far, in table 1, I grouped the %Rej using binning (this is the table I would like to look up) and the measure show the average of grouped %Rej.

Now in table 2 I when I get %Rej I would like to look up the data in T1 and fill in the value:

example if %Rej in T2 = 0.91 it would show 72.99 %Hch

Hi @sophtee ,

From your description, it looks like you are trying to group %Rej values using the bin feature in Power BI, and then use those bins to find and calculate the average %Hch of the corresponding values in another table.

Make sure there is a relationship between Table 1 and Table 2 based on the %Rej field or a related classification that is consistent with your bin. If a direct relationship based on %Rej is not possible due to binning, consider creating a supporting table that explicitly maps %Rej values to bin categories.

Given the complexity of your requirements, can you provide more details on how you set up the boxes and any relationships between the tables:

  • How did you construct the boxes in Table 1?
  • Is there a direct or indirect relationship between Table 1 and Table 2 in your model?

Usually you would do that via Percentilex.  but your bins look ... interesting...
