Login restriction

Hi,

I am looking for couple of features in PowerBI

1). Is it possible to set security for a .pbix file (or) in the service, where when someone tries to open the file it should ask for password or login details to view the report

2). Is it possible to restrict data shown in the dashboard based on the role of the user.

for eg. A clerk should see only the basic data, manager should see a bit more..likewise. (it can be in any way , through parametrization or identifying the windows user details etc.)

Thanks,

Ravi

Hi @Anonymous,

To your first feature request, as I know, there is no possible way to configure credentials to a .pbix file or a single report. Here is a thread similar as yours: Encrypt .PBIX file

To your second question, you can achieve your goal via RLS (Row-Level Security). Row-level security (RLS) with Power BI can be used to restrict data access for given users. Filters restrict data at the row level. You can define filters within roles. For more detailed description about RLS and steps about how to do that, please refer to: Row-level security (RLS) with Power BI
