Localization using Translation Builder 2.0 (Multi Language Report in 2023)

For Multi Language Report in 2023, as showcased in Power Bi Dev Camp, the guidance is to use Translation Builder 2.0 as a sidekick for building multi language reports.  I am trying to build a report for Greater China, thus requiring to show Traditional and Simplified Chinese for Hong Kong, Taiwan and China (or zh-HK, zh-TW, zh-CN).

Question:  How do I enable these 3 columns in Translation Builder 2.0?  Currently I can only add 1 column of zh-CN.
- I will need up to 3 additional column as the translation may be different for these 3 locations

I noticed in the filepath Translation Builder 2.0 these is a folder for both zh-Hans and zh-Hant (suspecting it is for Traditional and Simplified Chinese).  How do I enable this additional language?

  • Not sure if you've found this solution, but if you check the Show All Languages option in the Add Language window these languages appear.

    Hope this helps.

It's really important question. I need to make translation to Uzbekistan, Azerbaidjan languages. But I don't have the opportunity to add the custom solumn with custom language.

  • Unfortunately, it appears only you and me have this problem.  I hope they will address it in the next Multi Language Report in 202X a few years down the road.  I ended up using excel instead of Translation Builder to implement the solution.  Using excel, there are a few more places to keep track of the translation and not as neat as Translation Builder, but it gets the job done.
