Localización Islas Azores

Hola,

Muchas Gracias

    Hi crissb,

You're absolutely right if this behaviour is blocking your scenario and cannot be resolved through available workarounds like using coordinates.

If you are still unable to solve the issue you can reach out to Microsoft Support by raising a ticket with Microsoft Support.

  • Hi crissb ,

This is a known limitation with some map visuals, including Azure Maps — they sometimes struggle to resolve certain regions like the Azores when using administrative fields like province or region names.

Here are a few things you can try:

    1. Use Latitude and Longitude
Since you mentioned that coordinates work, the most reliable solution is to include Latitude and Longitude columns in your data and use them in the map visual. This bypasses the name resolution issue entirely.

    2. Add a Country Context
If you're using just "Azores" or "Açores" as the province, try adding a separate column for Country and set it to "Portugal". Then use both Province and Country in the map visual — this can help Azure Maps disambiguate the location.

    3. Use a Custom Location Table
If you frequently work with regions that are hard to resolve, consider creating a custom location dimension with standardized names and coordinates. You can then join this to your fact table and always use coordinates for mapping.

    4. Check for spelling/encoding issues
Make sure there are no extra spaces or encoding mismatches (e.g., "Açores" vs "Azores") — sometimes even small differences can cause the map to fail.

Let me know if you want help building a custom location table or using coordinates dynamically.

      Hola burakkaragoz,

Mi mapa no tiene coordenadas latitud, longitud. Hice la prueba, pero no tengo el dato en la dimensión.

La dimensión ya tiene la columna Pais.

El punto 3 y 4, ya lo he probado pero no me soluciona el problema.

        📄Sample Reference Table: PostalCodeCoordinates

        PostalCode Country Province Latitude Longitude

        9500-321PortugalAzores37.7412-25.6756
        1000-001PortugalLisbon38.7169-9.1399
        4000-123PortugalPorto41.1496-8.6109

        How to use it:

        1. Join this table to your dim_localizacion table using PostalCode.
        2. In your Azure Map visual, use:
          • Latitude → from PostalCodeCoordinates
          • Longitude → from PostalCodeCoordinates
        3. Keep using your existing Pais_CP or Province fields for filtering or tooltips.

This way, you don’t need to modify your current dimension logic — just enrich it with coordinates for mapping purposes.

  • Hello

I want to locate points in Spain and Portugal. In my dimension I already have the zip codes.

    Thanks a lot

    Best regards

  • El problema no ha sido resuelto porque en mi dimensión ya tengo los códigos postales de las Islas Azores. Necesito que el mapa me localice esos códigos postales.

      Hi crissb,

Thank you  for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.

Azure Map is not locating the Azores postal codes even though they exist in your data, this is likely due to a known limitation with Azure Maps in resolving certain regions. To fix this, the most reliable solution is to use a reference table that includes the postal codes along with their latitude and longitude. You can join this table to your dimension using the postal code and use the coordinates in the map visual. This ensures accurate plotting of the Azores regardless of name or region recognition issues.
