Situation:
I use a To Do list template file for client and internal projects to manage the progress. Each file has almost exactly the same structure (read: a table with the same columns like Task, Task Group, Owner, Status, Due Date, etc.). Each file is stored in a different parent folder, based on the case. I have a single folder, called Action Trackers, with shortcuts to those To Do files. This helps me to have one location to open all relevant To Do files at once. Shortcuts to those file come and go, as projects come and go.
Ask:
I would like to load all those files into one table to see all those tasks at once, especially to see what requires my most urgent attention.
Using Power Query / Power BI, there is an option to load files from Folder. Yet, when using the folder containing all those shortcuts, I get the prompt "We didn't recognize the format of your first file [...]".
So, does someone know what I could do to mitigate this? Is there for instance a way to retrieve the respective path of those shortcuts for which I can do multiple single From File load queries?
Hi @PieterJanS,
You cannot load LNK files into Power BI since you cannot open the correct location of the file.
