I am loading 200-300K records from a legacy syste. As that data will never change I don't need to refresh it or add another connection.
How can I completly disconnect the source and just retain the data in the model?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Hi @dont_show
You can uncheck the option of refresh from PQ
but if this table merges with other tables in the model it will try to refresh this table too after publishing on the service.
In this case, you can just use CSV / Excel as a data source.

Hi, @dont_show
Power BI is designed with the idea of maintaining the integrity and originality of the data source, so it does not provide the ability to disconnect the data source directly. You can disconnect indirectly by closing the relevant software, but this is temporary and the connection will be automatically restored when you use it again. You can only export all the data in the legacy syste if you can. You can submit an idea for here and the product team will take note of such a need.

Thanks for that. When I add as an excel file I still end up with a conection in the PowerBI service (portal). Due to current restrictions I can only have one data source connection for the dataset.
