Firstly, I am connected to a live data set (tabular model), so I cannot add new tables (that I am aware of).
Now, I have a field that contains cities such as:
Montreal |
Toronto |
Vancouver |
London |
Manchester |
UK Technology |
Global Services |
Silicon Valley |
Houston |
New York City |
San Francisco |
What I would like to do is build a slicer based on what currency each city uses. If this were a static dataset I would just add a column/table that looked like this:
Montreal | CAD |
Toronto | CAD |
Vancouver | CAD |
London | GBP |
Manchester | GBP |
UK Technology | GBP |
Global Services | USD |
Silicon Valley | USD |
Houston | USD |
New York City | USD |
San Francisco | USD |
Then I could just drop the currency column into a slicer and be done. But, because this is a live source I cannot do this. What kind of measure can I build to "create" these groups so that I can make a slice that lets me source by USD/CAD/GBP as above?
many thanks!
