Hi all,
I'm new to using Power BI desktop and am currently working on an assessment for my course where I have to create a stacked area chart that shows total cost, revenue, and profit by customer segment (consumer, corporate, and home office).
I have put customer segment on the X-axis, and cost, revenue and profit on the Y-axis (values). When I put just one of the values in, for example cost, the lines reach the correct number on the X-axis, but when I add the other values in, the lines don't overlap and they don't show the correct value.
As you can see below, the Sum of Profit is 3,205.10 for the consumer category. However, the point of the line on the chart is sitting at around 80K.
What have I done wrong here in creating the chart and what needs to be changed?
Sorry if my explanation is a bit confusing. I'm just getting a bit frustrated trying to figure this out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi , @xDaniellaM
The Stacked Area Charts in Power View (Power BI) is an extension of Area Charts. They are commonly used to make composition analysis.
The height of each area represents the value of each category, whilst the final height is the sum of those values.
This is why it shows the 80K in the visual due to it is the sum of the value "37853.05+41058.16+3205.10".
For clear explanation, this is my test data:
When i put it on the "Stacked Area Chart" , it will show like this:

Thank you Aniya for taking the time to reply and give me some extra information! I really appreciate it.
Have a great day,
Daniella
I don't think you've done anything wrong. You said you wanted a stacked area chart and that's what you created. The alternative might be an area chart which is a different visual.
Thank you for replying and assuring me that I correctly created the chart. It's helped to put me back on track!
