Line charts with events as data labels

Is it possible to add event names as data labels on line charts?

I could do this in Excel, but I am struggling to replicate this in Power BI. Something like below.

I have list of events connected to the dates/period. But I am not sure how I could add this on to the chart as if I try secondary line, it adds count(events) . In excel I can add Data Labes ( from series) .

Thank you!

Hi @NRS_Tych ,

You could apply the [Event] to the legend:

vjianbolimsft_0-1683623417495.png

Output:

vjianbolimsft_1-1683623433852.png

Or add text box like I mentioned before:

Hi @NRS_Tych ,

You can set the series labels:

Output:

vjianbolimsft_1-1683167454476.png

Besides, you can add text box directly:

Hi,

I think I wasnt clear enough. I have a sales data and another field with various activities happening with date-time information, and I need to know if these 2 can be put in same chart. This is doable in excel like below.

DateSalesEvents
01-Mar-2310,000
02-Mar-2310300Competition
03-Mar-2312000
04-Mar-239900Insta - live
05-Mar-2310,900
06-Mar-2311040
07-Mar-2311180BOGO
08-Mar-2311320
09-Mar-2311,460
10-Mar-2311600
11-Mar-2311740
12-Mar-235000Website down
13-Mar-2312,020
14-Mar-2312160
15-Mar-2312300
16-Mar-2312440
17-Mar-2312,580
18-Mar-2316500
19-Mar-2312860

Hi Jian,

Static comments in text boxes with lines seperate to the graph is only going to work for a once off report...

Power BI can do so much more, but, this one area is a sticky point once people overcome the basics, and advanced use of Power BI.

If you find a way to make this dynamic let me know - and I will do the same 🙂
