Is it possible to add event names as data labels on line charts?
I could do this in Excel, but I am struggling to replicate this in Power BI. Something like below.
I have list of events connected to the dates/period. But I am not sure how I could add this on to the chart as if I try secondary line, it adds count(events) . In excel I can add Data Labes ( from series) .
Thank you!

Hi @NRS_Tych ,
You could apply the [Event] to the legend:
Output:
Or add text box like I mentioned before:

Hi,
I think I wasnt clear enough. I have a sales data and another field with various activities happening with date-time information, and I need to know if these 2 can be put in same chart. This is doable in excel like below.
Date | Sales | Events |
01-Mar-23 | 10,000 | |
02-Mar-23 | 10300 | Competition |
03-Mar-23 | 12000 | |
04-Mar-23 | 9900 | Insta - live |
05-Mar-23 | 10,900 | |
06-Mar-23 | 11040 | |
07-Mar-23 | 11180 | BOGO |
08-Mar-23 | 11320 | |
09-Mar-23 | 11,460 | |
10-Mar-23 | 11600 | |
11-Mar-23 | 11740 | |
12-Mar-23 | 5000 | Website down |
13-Mar-23 | 12,020 | |
14-Mar-23 | 12160 | |
15-Mar-23 | 12300 | |
16-Mar-23 | 12440 | |
17-Mar-23 | 12,580 | |
18-Mar-23 | 16500 | |
19-Mar-23 | 12860 | |
20-Mar-23 | 13000 | |
21-Mar-23 | 13,140 |

Hi Jian,
Static comments in text boxes with lines seperate to the graph is only going to work for a once off report...
Power BI can do so much more, but, this one area is a sticky point once people overcome the basics, and advanced use of Power BI.
If you find a way to make this dynamic let me know - and I will do the same 🙂
