Line chart based on Calendar showing values despite row level security

Hi,

I have a role in row level security set up like this:

Yamabushi_0-1652727670481.png

But when I test this role, a line chart with the [CalendarYear] on the X axis is still showing all the values from the [CalendarYear] column.:

If I'm not mistaken, only 2001 and 2004 should be visible? This seems like an odd bug/security hole?

I appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks!

Hi @Yamabushi ,

The default type of X-axis is Continuous , so even though you only select 2001 and 2004, the 2002 and 2003 will also be shown on X-axis . But you could not see values for 2002 and 2003.

Please change the type of X-axis from Continuous to Categorical

Output:

Eyelyn9_3-1652931104029.png

Great, this works. Still, it seems strange that I see the values despite RLS being set up. If I understand correctly, the values in between (2002, 2003) are auto-generated?

Thanks

Hi,

I'm testing this with the "View as" command in PBI Desktop. Other roles work fine. For example, if I view as this role:

Yamabushi_0-1652728419775.png

I get the correct/anticipated result:

Yamabushi_1-1652728504919.png

How are you testing this ?

If you are using power BI desktop then you need to view as user?

Otherwise you hace superuser developer access and can see everything
