Line and stacked column chart - Data Labels - Value is not considered when column legend is defined
PBI version : PowerBI Desktop for Report server January 2025
Hello all,
I want to show data labels as custom column containing qualitative value for each numeric value but the data label value is not considered for line points as long as column legend are defined. I do unchecked the "Show for this series" button for each column legend value and kept only my line but labels are not substitued by my custom column.
When I remove my column legend, the labels values are correctly taken from my calculated columns.
I tried a lot of things but it seems like it's a bug. I don't understand why the values are not taken into account for my line data labels value when the column legends are defined.
Thank you all for your support.
Regards,
William
This seems to be a bug. In the image below, I am already using a custom label for the line but it still shows the actual line value.

Hi, have you explored with these steps? picking up Data label from a different column.

Yes that's working as your screen but as soon as you add columns with columns legend your a/b value won't be considered. Can you have a try and confirm that behaviour ?

The moment we add actual column to legend, Each of the distinct values is considered as a separate series.- GALLWIFrequent Visitor
You're right. That's why even if i unchecked "show for this series" for each column legend value and activate data labels for my line only, the values are not showing my custom column
