Licensing needed for extract data to excel?

Hi all,

I have a question related to licensing if anyone can give me an input will be much appreciated.

One customer publishs dashboards to a public site, but the customer need that who consult the dashboard has the capability to download data to excel.

What type of licensing does the external users need ? All of them that extract data from PBI dashboards need to have PRO or PREMIUM license ?

Thanks in advance,

Andrea

    Hi AndreaLee1212 ,

You need to learn about Distribute content to external guest users with Azure AD B2B - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

    • Your recipients also need Power BI Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) licenses, unless the content is in a Premium capacity.
    • If you want to allow recipients to edit a shared report, you have to assign the user a workspace role that allows editing.

Share Power BI reports and dashboards with coworkers and others - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

      Hi Stephen,

Thanks a lot for your reply, because helped me clarify somes points about editing for external users.

I have another question related to this , maybe you might help: if the end users are few like 50 should I consider only Pro licenses, as it is most cost effetive ?

      Thanks in advance,
