Leader Lines Color Not Updating with Data Labels in Power BI
Hi everyone,
I'm working on a donut chart in Power BI and noticed that when I change the color of the data label values, the leader lines (the lines pointing from the labels to the chart) don't update to match. I’ve tried adjusting the color in the "Data Labels" section of the Format pane, but it doesn’t affect the leader lines. Is there a setting I might be missing?

Power BI does not currently allow you to change the color of leader lines independently in donut or pie charts. The leader lines’ color is set automatically by Power BI (usually based on the visual’s theme or background) and is not linked to the data label color setting.
Changing the "Data Labels" color only affects the label text, not the leader lines. At the moment, there’s no setting in the Format pane to customize leader line colors.
Workaround: If you need leader lines to match your data label color, you’ll need to adjust your visual’s background/theme so the default line color works with your design, or consider a different visual.

This can't be marked as solved when there is no advice given about which settings to change. As another user posted the same Q minutes after the "solution" was posted. I am in the same boat now trying to figure out how to change the colour of leader lines - and this so-called solution does not solve the issue.
Solution is not intuituve, posting for others who might be looking for this same answer a year later like I was 🙂
Go to: View > Theme > Customize Current Theme > Names and Colors > Advanced
From there, you can change first-, second-, third-, and fourth-level elements. Not sure what each of them do, but I changed the first-level elements to the color I needed and the leaders on my donut charts updated
