Layouts

Hello everyone, When building a dataset in power bi desktop it is possible to create various layouts under model view. Can someone tell me the purpose and applications of creating different layouts for a dataset and how that can be used when creating a report that connects to the dataset.

Thanks!

@314mp_M0th4 ,

you can build smaller layout but the main first one will stay as well and the built layouts will get reflected there, so yes you can use them to build relationships.

@314mp_M0th4 ,

these layouts in the power bi data modeling sections are like mini view of the main huge layout in the first page, so if you do changes or link tables in a layout the changes will be applied on the main one as well.

working with layout makes it easier to see how a couple tables are linked to each others rather than looking at the huge main page and getting lost.

or you can like make layouts for different fact and dimensions in seperate layout to see how they're connected instead of searching for them in the huge one.

a conclusion, they're all the same as the first main one and changes in any gets applied in the main one, but this is to make things easier to read.

Thanks, so using layouts has no obvious applications when building reports? Such as if I have a huge dataset with many different tables I can't create a smaller layout and use only that for a report?
