Lab files in Power BI

Hi,

I have been downloading files from exercises (Power BI training modules) for practicing but I am unable to perform any exercise on these files as I keep getting a message that says " Working on it". I have downloaded PowerBI Desktop and am able to open the app but am not able to practice anything. Also, some of them are read-only files. How to practice on them if they are read-only and cannot perform any actions on them.

Yes, the issue was resolved. I also tried opening and closing files multiple times as data was not being loaded due to connection issues.

    Hi VandanaE  ,

I'm not entirely sure which site you did the test on, maybe I think you could try this.

Browse all training - Training | Microsoft Learn

  • Hi VandanaE  -  If the file depends on online data sources, ensure you are connected.
    Disable Background Data:
Go to File > Options and Settings > Options > Data Load.
Turn off Background Data and Parallel Loading.
    Clear Cache:
File > Options and Settings > Options > Data Load > Clear cache.Low RAM or CPU performance can slow down loading.External Data Sources: The file might be trying to connect to external data sources (e.g., SharePoint, databases) that are unavailable.
