Keep formatting settings after a slicer / filter is applied

PROBLEM

I have applied custom formatting settings for my Gantt 2.2.3 visualisation, i.e. milestone colours and shapes in this case as circled out in red below.

When I apply a filter to show only specific projects, however, these custom formatting settings revert back to the defaults, i.e. milestone colours as blue and shapes as rhombus.

Setting the above visualisations manually for every possible filter option is not a solution, because the project names, i.e. filter options in the slicer, will change and new projects will just use the defaults again.

SOLUTION

I need a way to be able to retain / inherit formatting settings for visualisations even after a slicer / filter is applied.

One way I think I can do this is the "Revert to default" option and setting defaults via a custom theme, but since this is an imported visual (Gantt 2.2.3) I can't seem to find where/how these defaults are stored in the sourcecode and more importantly how to modify them https://github.com/microsoft/powerbi-visuals-gantt

Any help with making custom json files for imported visuals or othewise an easier way to retain formatting would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
