Just create a bar chart
Ive only used this app once to create a bar chart and no documentation helped what so ever. All I did was keep clicking around and eventually created a successful chart, which took me weeks. I and now creating another but not able to successfully do it by guessing and random clicking this time. Ive imported an excel spreadsheet, chose Clustered column chart. I can only add one item to the y axis and it shows a bar. I need multiple bars for these columns. When adding to the x axis all I see is "column 1" and so on. There is no "value" area to drag to as was mentioned multiple times in the random videos Ive watched. I need some one to help me to understand after the spread sheet is loaded how to actually get multiple bars in my chart. I did not go through any of the steps provided by any support page or forum the first time I was successful, I just guessed. I want it to be obvious that I dont know what Im doing and would like some help. Thank you

When you use Clustered column chart visual, drag the field to the Y-axis and it will perform aggregation calculations, such as calculating a total value, or calculating the number of rows in a column, etc:
This is as you said “add one item to the y-axis and it shows a bar”, the bar shows a numerical value.
When you drag a field to the x-axis, it is displayed as categorized data, but because it doesn't give a y-axis value for the value of the field, it doesn't show the value contained in the field, but the name of the field alone:
As in my example, when I drag the field country to the X-axis and the field Sales to the Y-axis, it will show the total Sales value for each country:
Note that the Clustered column chart visual does not have a values field to drag:
X-axis: Drag the categorized data that you want to display on the X-axis to the “Axis” area. For example, year, product category, etc.
Y-axis: Drag the numerical data to the Values area. For example, Sales, Quantity, etc. You can add multiple series of numeric data so that multiple bar charts are displayed for each category.
Legend: Drag the data you want to display in groups to the Legend area. For example, different product families.When I drag the field Year to the Legend, the visual is grouped by Year:
